a place for honest stories.
The Well is a twice-yearly women’s publication built around honest stories, thoughtful conversation, and the things that are easier to carry when they’re spoken aloud. Each May and November, we gather essays, letters, creative work, and voices from women in different seasons of life.
Alongside the magazine, The Well Collective, Dear Photini, and our annual volume Out Loud create room for women to write, respond, listen, and make space for one another.

The Things We
Don’t Say Out Loud
Stories, letters, and creative work about the things women carry quietly — the words we hold back, the truths we circle around, and what changes when we finally say them out loud.

In-Between
Stories, letters, and creative work about the places between what was and what comes next — the waiting, the becoming, and the grace that meets us before anything feels finished.

The Well Collective
Each year, The Well gathers a circle of women whose stories, perspectives, and creative work help shape the conversation. They come from different seasons and different places, bringing what they have lived, questioned, learned, and are still becoming.

The 2027 Collective is where The Well begins.

Dear Photini

Some questions are hard to ask out loud.

Dear Photini is The Well’s reader-letter column — a place to bring the questions you may not know where else to ask. Write about faith, relationships, family, identity, becoming, or the complicated places in between.

Photini is the name given to the trusted voice who reads and responds to those letters with grace, wisdom, and honesty.Â
